Technical Drawing  Course Outline

Technical drawing is a universal language and very important in today’s technological world.  From the design phase to the construction phase, technical drawings are used to communicate ideas, concepts, and instructions from the drafter to the reader.  Drafting is a graphic form of communication that allows people to share their ideas with others regardless of language barriers.  Every line and symbol used in technical drawing has a specific meaning throughout the world.  All occupations require the ability to interpret graphic forms of communication.

This course will provide a background in technical drawing and teach students basic drawing, tools and equipment, and applications of drawing skills.  Students will actively pursue solutions to drafting problems that are concurrent to the needs of industry.  Emphasis will be placed on communication of thoughts, ideas, and knowledge through technical drawing.
