What Is Technology?

Technology is the use of human knowledge to expand human abilities and to satisfy people’s needs and wants.

  The Ages of Technology

(1)    Stone Age (1,000,000 BC - 3000BC)

  •   Made tools out of natural materials such as stone, wood, and bone

  •    Cavemen, Hammer stones, Arrow heads.

(2)    Bronze Age (3000 BC – 1200 BC)

  •    Bronze was made from cooper and tin. The process use to create bronze is called smelting

  •    Alloy, Metal tools were formed, Casting.

(3)    Iron Age (1200 BC)

  • Iron replaced metals such as cooper and bronze.

  • Agricultural tools, Farming settlements.

(4)    The Information Age/ Computer Age (1900 – Present)

  •   Machines were invented that could process, store, and exchange data electronically.

  •    Computers, electronic devices.
