Rasps
Types of files
1. Flat
Used to shape flat surfaces and straight edges.
2. Rats Tail (Round)
Used for round surfaces. Great for widening holes.
3. Half Round
Used for concave surfaces, edges, and holes.
4.Triangular
Used to shape square holes, Handsaw teeth. Birds Beak
- Hand tool used to shape material by cutting.
- Hardened steel bar,
- Mostly covered with a series of sharp, parallel ridges or teeth.
Rasps
- Woodworking tool used for shaping wood.
- It consists of a point or the tip, then a long steel bar or the belly, then the heel or bottom, then the tang.
- Rasps generally cut more coarsely than files.
- Punched up from the steel surface, are perfect for grating away at wood.
- Used to clean saw dust out of the files
